The G75 is a very impressive phone for the price, with waterproofing, shock protection, enough memory, a micro-sd slot, good cameras and a bright screen. It is powerful enough for most cases, also for gaming if you don't play the very demanding games, and never felt slow. It has Wifi 6 and 5G and had a good connection in most cases, where my old phone (a Poco X3 Pro, very powerful but with weaker cameras and poor connection) will not work at all.

The cameras really surprised me: the main camera is very capable. Compared to a Xiaomi Note 13 Pro 4G at a similar price (with a much weaker GPU and only 4G and no Wifi 6) it was equivalent during the day, but needed more time for taking a picture by low light so it is easier to have a blurry picture, and you have to be careful that the screen flashes *before* the picture has been fully processed. If you don't wait for the less visible running circle where your pressed to take the picture, it will be blurry to some extend. When I tried taking simultaneous pictures I failed many photos on the Moto because the Xiaomi was so much faster.

And with very low light conditions, the Xiaomi destroy the Moto, also while using the flash.

But... The other cameras on the Xiaomi are much weaker than the main one, aside maybe the wide angle which is ok. And on the G75, while the wide angle camera is mostly similar to the Xiaomi, it has also autofocus and can be used to take macro picture. So everything close-by with the wide angle camera will be better on the Moto, and the macro will be a great deal better. And it is the same for the selfie camera, where the moto will consistently make good portraits with great details (if not zoomed), especially when the high resolution is selected (by default it is 4Mpixels).Then I compared it also to the Moto Edge 50 fusion which was on sale around the same price and has a similar processor (and somehow the G75 benchmarked better in 3dmark). The Edge has an even better selfie camera that makes great portraits, that let also much more light (so will be a better chat camera), but the main camera is very similar, only faster in low light condition. And the G75 was often most consistent, with more natural colors and better dynamics. But it could be becaue the Edge has more AI assistance. The wide angle camera on the egde is somehow at the same level, even if it should be better, but the macro photos are better than on the G75.Somehow the Edge does not have Wifi 6 but more 4G bands and seems rather similar in quality of connection (so very good so far for both Wifi and mobile).The Edge and the Xiaomi comes with the power adapters, while the G75 and the Xiaomi comes with an usable (while not great) case. The Xiaomi has screen protector which is not too nice to touch. The Edge comes with an absolutely useless case, and needs a good one (I ordered a transparent silicone case with protective corner, from zZjoOoj, and it is great).Then... the screen. Both the Xiaomi and the Edge has fantastic Oled screen, very similar, but the G75 has a LCD screen. And at first I was very impressed, the contrast is great, the colors as good as the oled screens, and the black not far off. Watching an HDR video (none of these phone are HDR btw) I couldn't see much difference. But after a while using the phone I began to notice that my eye got tired. The issue is that the colors change really quickly if you move the screen. The viewing angle is not bad if you only look at it fixed and with one eye, but really bad if the phone move or is on the side and you use both eyes... Somehow it would have been better to have less fantastic contrast and colors but ensure that the colors does not change like that... As I use my phone to read quite often, that means it goes back unfortunately (and the Edge 50 Fusion stays, but also because it was on sale).The other shortcoming is that the speakers are quite bad. They are loud but miss fully some frequencies. So for some music, voices or sound, you will simply not get part of it if you compare to a better phone. The Edge 50 Fusion on the other hand is spectacular for a midrange phone.

And that's a shame because at that price and with all its feature there is nothing at the same level. So if you look for a rugged and good all around phone, I will still strongly recommend the phone.

Im letzten Sommer hatte ich für meinen Sohn schon ein Motorola g22 gekauft und war sehr angetan davon.

Daher habe ich mich jetzt auch für ein Motorola- das G55 für 169€ im April 2025 entschieden.besonders positiv:- die Auflösung ist total gut gewählt. Die Schriften und Symbole sind standartmäßig etwas kleiner, aber das lässt die Auslösung viel besser erscheinen. Und es passt wirklich viel Text auf das Display.- Mit 6,49Zoll springt Motorola nicht auf den Zug "Smartphones möglichst immer größer" auf, so dass es sogar etwas keiner als mein 4 Jahre altes POCO X3 NFC ist.- die Kamera ist beeindruckend für das Geld und hat viele Funktionen.- Weitwinkel ist vorhanden - das war mir sehr wichtig und es ist gar nicht so einfach, das bei Smartphones immer in der Beschreibung herauszufinden.- Dual-Kamera ist für Foto und Video möglich (vorn und hinten gleichzeitig)- Spot-Farbe - einfach eine tolle Funktion - man kann im Bild live eine Farbe auswählen und alles andere wird grau- Scan-Funktion - ein super Dokumentenscanner ist direkt mit in den Kamerafunktionen. Erkennt Dokumente automatisch. Dafür musste ich bisher immer die extra Adobe Scan - App nutzen.- Es gibt viele Schutzhüllen auf dem Markt für das Smartphone - hier war mir eine Hülle mit Magnetfunktion für die Autohalterung wichtig.negativ:- habe ich aktuell noch nichts gefunden.... werde ich hier updaten, wenn mir etwas auffällt.

Mein Moto G9 Plus hat nach 4 Jahren die Flügel gestreckt. An sich hätte ich auch etwas mehr Geld investiert für ein Gerät mit besserer Kamera.

Aber was nützt mir die beste Kamera, wenn der Speicher knapp wird?

Gute Kamera und viel Speicher...das wird dann direkt deutlich teuer. Und dazwischen gibt es... Irgendwie nix.

Und so wurde es doch das eher einfache G55.Hätte ich gerne eine bessere Kamera?

Ja klar. Ich war mit meinem G9 in der Hinsicht schon nicht super happy und jetzt leider nochmal ein bisschen weniger. - Haben meine Systemkameras also auch die nächsten Jahre noch gut zu tun und werden nicht vom Smartphone verdrängt.

Aber was man hier für knapp 160 € bekommt, ist als Gesamtpaket ansonsten völlig in Ordnung.

Und für gelegentliche Fotos reicht es natürlich auch.

Es erfüllt meinen Wunsch nach einem leidlich handlichen Smartphone, dass mir auch ohne Cloud-Speicher und Musik Streaming unterwegs noch gute Dienste tun wird.

Da bin ich dann vielleicht altmodisch, aber ich mag's, wenn das Entertainment unterwegs auch noch ohne mobile Daten funktioniert.

Und ich denke, ich habe jetzt wieder mein solides Alltagsmaschinchen für die nächsten Jahre gefunden.

A really good little phone for very little money. Comes pre wrapped in a very good protector. It's fast and snappy. Looks close to stock android. Cleared out the bloat apps from Google and Motorola with Canta & Shizuku without issues. The phone gets regular updates and doesn't give me any issues. It has a 3.5mm jack and a slot for two sim cards and an sd card slot. Things high end phones can only dream of (WHY!?). Battery lasts reasonably well, but I never stress that phone much anyway. No videos, just chat and phone calls. One thing that's very limited is the selection of ring tones. They are all terrible and noisy. If you look for something that grabs your attention without causing long time hearing damage (joking of course) you gotta find some custom file. But at least it does let you do that and with that I'm quite happy.
