Das Telefon kam gut verpackt pünktlich an.
Zum Gerät: Aus meiner Sicht viel Licht, doch auch etwas Schatten. Das HMD ist sehr gut verarbeitet, und sieht auch sehr chic aus. Es ist nicht wesentlich schwerer als andere Geräte. Es ist sehr einfach zu bedienen. Für mich waren die SD Karte, die 108mp Kamera, und das QI laden kaufentscheidend. Außer dem HMD Skyline bietet nur noch das HTC 23 pro diese Ausstattungsmerkmale. Mir ist schleierhaft warum Firmen diese Merkmale in ihre Geräte nicht einbauen. Die Selbstreparierbarkeit und die 7 Jahre Ersatzteil Nachkauf waren für mich nicht kaufentscheidend. Zu den Schattenseiten: Leider bietet HMD für das Skyline nur 2 Jahre Updates und 3 Jahre Sicherheitsupgrades an. Damit ist HMD nicht allein auf dem Markt. Fazit: Wer auf ein gut gesteiltes Smartphone mit guter Kamera, sowie SD Karten Anschluss, und QI 2 laden steht, wird im HMD eine gute Wahl sehen. Bei der Kamera muss man leichte Abstriche bei Dunkelheit und beim Vergrößern machen. Sie ist sonst recht gut. PS ich hätte lieber 50 € mehr für das Gerät bezahlt, wenn die Updates länger als 2 Jahre laufen. Für mich ist das HMD Skyline eine echte Kaufempfehlung, die nicht jeden ansprechen wird.
Nachtrag nach 9 Monaten: Nach einer Ladezeit von einer Stunde hatte das Skyline leider keine Funktion mehr. Ich habe im Austausch kulanterweise ein neues Smartphone bekommen. Ich rechne es dem Lieferanten sehr hoch an, da Garantien teilweise von der Industrie und dem Handel nicht immer eingehalten werden. Dafür müsste es einen 6. Stern geben.

Nutzt den "Amazon-Liefertag".📦 Somit werden die Fahrer etwas entlastet und ebenso werden Verpackungen eingespart.♻️💡ZUM PRODUKT----------------------Da ich selbst kein Fan der absolut großen Marken bin, habe ich als ehmaliger Nokia-Nutzer (schon sein Ewigkeiten), ein neues Handy benötigt.
Die Weiterentwicklung von Nokia, wurde von HMD nun auch nicht mehr unterstützt und HMD bringt nun die Handys unter eigenem Namen heraus.
Ein Handy das durch die iFixit-Funktion auf Nachhaltigkeit setzt ist definitiv die beste Variante und genau das ist mit dem HMD auch der Fall.
Auf die ganzen technischen Details werde ich nicht eingehen, die kann man selbst nachlesen.
Viel wichtiger ist mein persönlicher Eindruck.
Das Handy kommt mit einer schlanken vorinstallierten Oberfläche (keine tausend Apps, die kein Mensch braucht) Das Display leuchtet satt und ist auch bei Sonnenschein sehr gut ablesebar.
Die Reaktionsgeschwindigkeit ist für meine Begriffe sehr schnell und ich bin voll zufrieden.
Absolut genial ist die Kamera. Endlich werden Nachtfotos auch mal richtig toll und detailiert dargestellt. (Beispielbild und Video im Anhang) Das Video ist nicht ganz so gut, aber für Nachtverhältnisse immer noch grandios.
Die Kamera ist zusätzlich per Gestick ansteuerbar und so gehen Selfies noch leichter von Hand.
Der Akku ist schön groß und reicht bei mir knapp 1,5 Tage und das bei relativ viel Nutzung.
Das Handy war so gut, dass ich gleich noch ein zweites für meine Partnerin bestellt habe.✅😊FAZIT--------------Nachhaltiges Handy, mit großem Akku, schneller zu bedienender Oberfläche, grandioser Kamera (Frontbild sowie auch Hauptkamera) und wenige vorinstallierte Apps.
Ich bin megahappy und kann das Handy nur empfehlen. Es ist definitiv eine sehr gute Alternativ zu den sehr bekannten großen Marken. Ich werde definitiv der Marke HMD (also "Nachfolger" für Nokia treu bleiben) die Handys haben mir alle in der Vergangenheit treue Dienste geleistet. Klare Kaufempfehlung meinerseits.

I bought the HMD Skyline as a replacement for my Google Pixel 4a. I decided to go with HMD after all the bad luck I had trying to repair the 4a. Since I didn’t want to waste more money on a phone that no longer even receives security updates, I chose to buy a new Phone, the HMD Skyline.
At first, I was amazed by the features and design choices that most manufacturers don’t bother with anymore. The backplate opening screw is genius, repairs are straightforward, and the inclusion of a micro SD card slot shows that HMD wants to cater to the aware consumer who doesn’t like anti-repair designs or the removal of useful features. The Detox Mode is another great example of moving in the right direction.
It is nice to have a phone that’s easy to repair, but that only matters if it’s actually a phone you want to use long-term. Unfortunately, it feels like a downgrade from my Pixel 4a for several reasons.
Software issues:
The software is buggy. YouTube crashes frequently, Android Auto disconnects after a few minutes, Bluetooth audio sometimes gets choppy, and the phone commonly freezes for a second, especially when controlling the volume. And that’s just what I found in the first two days.
Hardware quality and ergonomics:
The build quality is excellent; they definitely didn’t cheap out on the display, which is bright and responsive. 1000nits is plenty enough dispite what others say and 144hz are great, would be great if there was an option to pick 90hz for a smooth experience but to also save on battery power. The touch sensitivity is even better than my Pixel 4a, which sometimes felt a bit too sensitive. However, the ergonomics aren’t great. The phone has sharp corners, reminiscent of the Lumia 1020, and the big screen size only makes the handling feel more harsh. I don’t really care about the screen bezels (they’re one of the most overrated criteria in smartphone reviews.) it's good as it is.
The “action button” on the left is fantastic and already use it a lot, but it could use some more features like opening selected apps. (You can also call an Uber for some reason??? I don't think calling an Uber is as essential as the flashlight or muting calls?) I also enjoy the gesture controls for the camera: making a peace sign or thumbs-up automatically starts the timer, which is a feature I really missed from older LG phones.
Battery life has been fine for me. Some might call the 4600mAh capacity small, but since batteries degrade over time, the real benefit is being able to replace it when needed. 4600mAh isn’t much less than the 5000mAh found in most Android phones anyway, and I’d take a replaceable 4600mAh over a non-replaceable 5000mAh any day. It also supports 33W fast charging and is currently the only Android phone with Qi2 wireless charging. I personally don’t use wireless charging, but it’s nice to have. The only caveat is weaker magnets; I haven’t tested them myself, but reviews show they’re not as strong as Apple’s MagSafe.
Camera:
On paper, the Skyline’s camera should outperform the Pixel 4a, and technically it does, with 108MP Main Camera, 50MP Selfie Camera, ultrawide, and telephoto lenses providing great versatility. Photos are okay, but the software processing lets it down. Highlights blow out easily, dynamic range isn’t great, and videos are shaky, oversharpened, and have jittery auto-brightness. The hardware is solid, but the software needs a major overhaul.
The worst hardware issues:
The speakers are tinny with no bass whatsoever, and the vibration motor is a huge downgrade from the Pixel 4a . The 4a’s haptics were crisp and EXTREMELY satisfying, on par with the iPhone Taptic Engine. The HMD Skyline uses a generic vibration motor that feels rough and unpleasant.
The fingerprint scanner is placed on the power button and works reliably, but Accidental touches make the phone constantly try to unlock, fail to detect the fingerprint, and then disable fingerprint login entirely until you manually enter your passcode.
Other frustrations:
Accessories are scarce. There are almost no decent cases or screen protectors, leaving you with a handful of low-quality options that undermine the phone’s otherwise solid build. That’s not entirely HMD’s fault, but it’s still frustrating.
Longevity concerns:
While the Skyline is marketed as repairable, the reality depends on replacement parts actually being available. HMD partnered with iFixit, which is great in theory, but many parts are already out of stock. On top of that, software support is only guaranteed for two years. That makes me question whether replacement batteries will still be available when I actually need one in 2–4 years. The short update window also makes it feel like HMD doesn’t care much about long-term support, in a way Apple or Fairphone does.
Unfortunately, the reason I have to return it is due to the connectivity issues, bad speakers, and buggy software. Although I ordered the 8GB RAM model, I actually received the 12GB RAM model with 256GB internal storage, which was a very pleasant surprise given the price. But the extra RAM didn’t help with the bugs.
It’s a shame I have to return it because I not only like but adore the principle of the phone. I hope HMD can fix these issues with future models because the world needs phones like the Skyline and i'd gladly pay more for an improved Version.
If I could design my dream phone, it would be like the Skyline, but smaller, with better speakers and haptics. (maybe an AUX port, and a slightly industrial design like the HMD Fusion or Nothing Phone wound be a cherry on top) A better CPU would help too, though the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 isn’t a bad choice, but a better CPU helps with longer OS support. Most importantly, HMD, please polish the software like Google and Samsung does. The camera hardware is solid, but the processing really needs some love and care. Since it has a Detox Mode, maybe make the launcher more minimalist, My favorite inspiration is the the Niagara Launcher, since it does resemble the Windows Phone OS. It would attract the nostalgic Windows Phone Fans like you already did with the Lumia Designs.
I really hope HMD improves and succeeds with their Direction, but for now, their phones are not quite ready yet.
